Studies on our key ingredient have more than doubled since 2014

Over 150 scientific articles have been published on our key ingredient since its discovery in 2004. The number of papers coming out each year is steadily increasing as scientists continue to uncover the potential of this remarkable nutrient.

Our Chief Scientific Advisor led the discovery

In 2004, Dr. Charles Brenner discovered that nicotinamide riboside (NR) could support healthy levels of a vital cellular resource. This resource is a central component in energy metabolism and is believed to play an important role supporting healthy human aging. Although NR is a naturally-occurring vitamin in milk, it’s only found in trace amounts. Based on Dr. Brenner’s patents and the established techniques of our parent company ChromaDex, NR was exclusively licensed and developed as NIAGEN®

NIAGEN® supports NAD, a vital resource for cellular energy

NAD (or nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a vital resource found in all living cells. We use it every day. After over 100 years of studying this molecule, researchers are publishing more articles about NAD than ever before. Now we know NAD isn’t a constant resource. Things like overeating, staying in the sun too long, or drinking alcohol can stress our system and cause NAD to decline. Some scientists even think this NAD decline plays a major role in how we age.

NAD declines up to 50% between ages 40-60†
