NAD is as essential to our cells as food, water, and oxygen.
Shouldn’t we understand what it is?

NAD is essential to our cells and supports many aspects of healthy aging. Here’s what healthy NAD levels could mean for you:*

Maintaining healthy cholesterol levels

Support cellular metabolism and energy production

Support liver function, especially after stress

Staying healthy, longer

Studies on our key ingredient have more than doubled since 2014

Over 150 scientific articles have been published on our key ingredient since its discovery in 2004. The number of papers coming out each year is steadily increasing as scientists continue to uncover the potential of this remarkable nutrient.

Our Chief Scientific Advisor led the discovery

In 2004, Dr. Charles Brenner discovered that nicotinamide riboside (NR) could support healthy levels of a vital cellular resource. This resource is a central regulator in energy metabolism and is believed to play an important role in healthy human aging. Although NR is a naturally-occurring vitamin in milk, it’s only found in trace amounts. Based on Dr. Brenner’s patents and the established techniques of our parent company ChromaDex, NR was exclusively licensed and developed as NIAGEN®

NIAGEN® supports NAD, a vital resource for cellular energy

NAD (or nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a vital resource found in all living cells. We use it every day. After over 100 years of studying this molecule, researchers are publishing more articles about NAD than ever before. Now we know NAD isn’t a constant resource. Things like overeating, staying in the sun too long, or drinking alcohol can stress our system and cause NAD to decline. Some scientists even think this NAD decline plays a major role in how we age.

NAD declines up to 50% between ages 40-60†

Massudi, et al., 2012†

Based on one analysis of human skin tissue.

The skin is an NAD hungry organ. It is constantly attacked by UV light and needs NAD to facilitate DNA repair. When NAD levels decline, skin condition declines (collagen and elastin levels drop) in a corresponding manner. Maintaining healthy NAD levels can do what no cosmetic treatment can do – support skin health at the most basic cellular level, where everything about your skin is decided in critical physiological pathways.

NIAGEN® restores NAD

The science speaks for itself

More than 20 human studies on NR are already registered, and more than 100 scientific studies have already been published.
